Hanadi Alwan

Hanadi Alwan is a Syrian American who has dedicated her life to helping refugees who are handicapped. She founded the Life Maker Center in 2015, a community center that provides support and resources to refugees with disabilities and empowers women who take care of them through training courses to acquire life skills and generate income, as well as emotional support for the caregivers.


‏Hanadi established Youth United with Purpose (YUP), a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees. YUP has funded various projects, such as providing emergency help for refugees affected by the earthquake and providing basic needs such as food and clothing.


‏Alwan has also been actively involved in the Syrian American Council (SAC), where she previously served as a board member. 


‏Apart from her work with refugees, Alwan is also a mother of four and has contributed to numerous community and humanitarian causes. She is passionate about making a difference in peoples lives and is committed to serving those most in need.


‏In March  2023, Alwan visited Turkey and Syria after the earthquake to assess the damage and see how her organization could help. She is working on several projects in northern Syria for refugees, especially the ones who have been displaced again by the earthquake. She is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those who are underprivileged
